Rick Simpson Oil: How it began

Let’s go back to the 90s and see what we find. Rick wasn’t always known as an ​“activist and medical marijuana cultivator”. No, Rick was an engineer working in Canada. One day he collapsed from toxic fumes while removing asbestos from a boiler room. 

Although Rick was taken to the hospital, he continued to suffer from two distinct issues – he battled tinnitus or ringing of the ears, and dizziness for years. No pharmaceutical product could relieve these symptoms, so Simpson started to research alternatives. After watching a cannabis documentary, Rick turned to his doctor about the option. And, as you may have guessed, his doctor did not get on board with the idea.

Creating Rick Simpson Oils

Rick didn’t take his doctor’s word for it either. He procured his own cannabis, gave it a try, and realized it helped relieve his symptoms quite a bit. In 2003, he was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma, which is a type of skin cancer. As with any cancer diagnosis, it was devastating.

So, Rick continued to study cannabis and found that mice were being cured of cancer with the use of cannabis. This is when Rick created his unique oil. He applied the oil to his skin, and cancer went away. The most miraculous part, it only took 4 days of applying the oils.

Now, what are the facts about RSO?

Now that the beautiful story is told, we must look at the facts. After all, your health and safety are the top concerns. And obviously, you can make RSO because of Rick Simpson’s website. However, it is not recommended to do so. 

But here are the basic ingredients and instructions:

• 1 lb. of cannabis

• 2×2 wooden board

• 8 – 9 liters of solvent

• Funnels

• Coffee filters

• 2, 20-liter buckets

• Electric rice cooker

• Large fan

• A few small containers

• Plastic syringes

• Stainless steel measuring cup

• Coffee warmer

1. Procure1 lb. of a high-Indica strain of cannabis. Place the cannabis in one of the buckets and pour the solvent over the herbs. Use the wooden board to move the cannabis around, coating it well. Stir this around in the bucket for 3 – 4 hours.

2. Next, pour the solvent that was used with the cannabis into the other bucket to separate the flower or trichomes from the liquid. Replace the liquid and do this whole process again. 

3. Put coffee filters into the funnels and pour everything into water containers. This will remove all plant material from the extracted oils.

4. All solvents used to extract the oils must be burned off for safety. Place the oil mixture into a rice cooker and cook at between 210 – 230 degrees Fahrenheit. During this process, all solvents should evaporate. When this process is complete, siphon the oil into syringes so it can thicken. It will turn into a syrupy thick terpene and cannabinoid-rich medicinal product.

Usage and warnings

You can use RSO oils in different ways. You can use the sublingual method. This is usually done by placing a drop on the bottom of your tongue. You can also just swallow a drop of the oil. And you can also apply the oil to your skin as well, just as Rick Simpson did.

Considering this oil contains a solvent, it is highly flammable, keep that in mind. Even though this product recipe is shared with everyone, it’s not advised to make it at home. No, cannabis doesn’t kill you, but improper handling of these ingredients can be dangerous. It’s best to purchase this remarkable RSO product instead of making it yourself. And even though Rick Simpson did not patent his product, his name has somehow managed to get onto products everywhere.
