Many states in the U.S., and regions around the world can enjoy marijuana. Massachusetts cannabis is some of the best quality product.
Massachusetts has an interesting history concerning cannabis. In fact, its story dates back to the 1600s when mandatory cultivation of industrial hemp spread across the American colonies. It started in three states, Massachusetts, Virginia, and Connecticut. Although the hemp of those days had close to no THC, it was eventually deemed illegal.
And wouldn’t you know, Massachusetts was the first state to outlaw cannabis sometime between 1911 and 1914. The only entities allowed to possess cannabis were pharmacists. It would be a hundred years before things started to change.
In 2008 possession of marijuana was no longer illegal, up to a point. You could have no more than an ounce in your home at one time. However, any person could grow up to 6 marijuana plants.
In 2012, medical marijuana was legalized for those with certain conditions. Only these approved individuals could buy cannabis products from weed dispensaries. Those who were allowed to purchase marijuana from dispensaries could only purchase a 60-day supply at one time and had to present a medical marijuana registration card provided by the state.
But Massachusetts continued to move forward, aiming to collect the same freedoms for marijuana sales to mirror that of buying alcohol. After all, they both contain intoxicating properties, with marijuana having the potential to generate competitive sales.
In December 2016, recreational marijuana was legalized in the state of Massachusetts. Retail sales of marijuana was legalized in November 2018. Still there were some stipulations: smoking on public property, including parks and sidewalks was prohibited, as well as driving while smoking.
Massachusetts cannabis relations and sales has come a long way, but it still has improvements to make. Just this month, January 2021, the CCC (Cannabis Control Commission) set out to require a cannabis delivery license. The license allowed the existence of standalone delivery services who had their own warehouses. The CCC created this license for minority or local owned operators. This license was only for those who’d been in the CCC’s social equity programs for at least 3 years. What did this mean for everyone else?
This meant that existing dispensaries would not be able to provide delivery for the next 3 years. And so, the CDA filed suit against the CCC because they also strived to create diversity in the cannabis sale and delivery system. After some members of the CDA quit because of the lack of diversity that did exist, unintentionally, the CDA dropped the lawsuit. Plans are to work together with the CCC and come to an agreement on delivery and sales policies.
While there are black markets that sell cannabis in all states, including those with laws against recreational weed use, there are advantages to buying weed online legally. Basically, if you don’t live in a legal state, your only legal source is through medicinal marijuana purchase.
For legal marijuana purchase, there are many great advantages. One of the best things about legal cannabis is there are many dispensaries available to choose from. Legal weed is also prone to be of better quality. And unlike the black markets, purchasing legal weed means dealing with reputable companies with access to great third-party delivery service.
In Massachusetts, you can find a great selection of weed dispensaries to choose from. Although the history of cannabis in this state may have been bleak, it’s getting better and better. For those who live in Massachusetts, the future is bright for enjoying a safe and quality intoxicating experience.
